November 2025: Bassist, composer, performing and recording artist Tomaso Semioli drops his first EP (extended play) entitled Nuovo Suono – “New Sound.”

“Wah Gwaan Jamacia” Dedicated in dub to Aston “Family Man” Barrett (Bob Marley & The Wailers), Robbie Shakespeare (Sly & Robbie, Grace Jones), Jah Wobble (“Lovely stuff Tom, well done mate!”), Jackie Jackson (Toots & The Maytalls), Gordon Sumner (Sting), and Bill Laswell. Note the wah-bass solo breaks!

Title translates as “What’s up Jamacia!” as intoned by Barack Obama upon his first trip to said Commonwealth realm as President. Cool sound effects buried deep in the mix!

“Fan Fair for the Common House Fly” An extended (for me) techno-orchestral theme to a film that has yet to exist! A composition wherein the bass changes harmony beneath modal melodies.

“Tunaanzia Tena (We Will Start Again)” A modal vamp with vocal and horn melodies atop decidedly dub bass passages. Dig the “wet” drum resonance!

“Poerava (Black Pearl)” An artsy vignette featuring static vocal passages, a cosmic timbre, and a quirky Afro beat.

“Leona’s Song (Future Dance Floor)” The last physical experience I had with my late wife Leona was a slow dance in our living room hours before she passed. We will dance again on a future dance floor… She had a habit of repeating herself, hence the echoing libretto in a voice similar to hers.
