Lonnie Marshall

Rock ‘n roll record bins are rife with slabs that for reasons known only to the gods, fail in the commercial marketplace despite their genius. A few years after the former John Graham Mellor retired The Clash, he waxed a woefully obscure masterpiece entitled Earthquake Weather (1989) which featured bassist Lonnie Marshall.

Cited as one of the top five funk purveyors by Bass Player magazine, Lonnie rendered killer slap grooves on his Steinberger XL to enhance Mr. Strummer’s stinging socio-political libretto.
